For its 2025 edition, La Thuile Trail combines passion for the mountains with a commitment to solidarity, proudly supporting children affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa.
With spring just around the corner, it is time to think about summer and mountain challenges. La Thuile Trail returns on July 26, 2025, and will welcome 1,000 participants ready to compete over three distances: Trail (25 km), Marathon (43 km) and Ultra (70 km).
This year, the event has been enriched with an important social cause. The organizers have chosen to support DEBRA Family, a charity that since 2004 has been working to improve the quality of life of people with Epidermolysis bullosa, commonly called “Butterfly Children” syndrome. The association, founded on a volunteer basis, offers medical, psychological and care support to those who struggle daily with this rare disease.
The organizers have committed to donating a portion of the event's proceeds to the DEBRA Family association. In addition, each race participant will have the opportunity to make a difference by donating 1€ to DEBRA Family as part of their registration, thus directly contributing to research and treatment of this rare disease. La Thuile Trail is therefore not just a race, but a chance to make a difference to the lives of those who truly need it.
“It is an honor for us to support DEBRA Family and the children affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa. This initiative holds special meaning for our team, as we were introduced to the cause through some of our dedicated volunteers who have a personal connection to the association. Our goal is to raise awareness about this rare disease, which is still too little known. We hope that our efforts can bring concrete help to the families who bravely face this difficult challenge on a daily basis,” explains Gianluca de Cristofaro of La Thuile Trail.
Registration for the La Thuile Trail is already open, with more than 300 runners registered. Don't miss your chance to participate in an event that combines sport and solidarity: register by March 31 to secure the discounted rate before the new pricing takes effect on April 1.

DEBRA Family: The Butterfly Children's Association.
DEBRA Family is a voluntary association founded by people with Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) and their families. It provides financial support for treatments, develop self-help strategies, facilitate, and promotes the exchange of information, and finances medical research. DEBRA's goal is also to provide specialised medical care, to increase the chances of recovery and, through targeted research, to identify the right therapies.
What is EB?
EB stands for Epidermolysis Bullosa, the genetic disease of Butterfly Children. The patients' skin is so vulnerable that blisters and deep lesions form at the slightest touch or strain on it and the inner mucous membranes. This is a genetic defect whereby the anchoring filaments between the two skin layers (epidermis and dermis) are absent.
Our young patients are called Butterfly Children because their skin is vulnerable like the wings of a butterfly. In Italy there are about 1,000 and in Europe 30,000. This is why Epidermolysis bullosa belongs to the group of rare diseases.
